Water softener salt cleans and recharges the resin beads inside your softener system. Through a process called ion exchange, these beads trap hard minerals (calcium and magnesium). The salt creates a brine that washes these minerals away, allowing the system to continuously prevent scale buildup and protect your plumbing.
